What Kind Of Roof Is Best For Idaho?

Some parts of Idaho and the Rocky Mountains receive heavy snowfall during the winter. This can lead to ice dams on roofs, which can cause water damage and leaks. Strong winds can lift shingles or damage them, leaving the underlayment exposed to further damage. Hailstorms can dent or crack shingles and cause damage to other roofing materials.

During hot and dry summers, the UV rays of the sun can degrade roofing materials, leading to cracking, fading, and loss of strength. Wildfires can also pose a significant threat to roofs if they come too close. These factors may all impact your choice of roofing.

Metal roofs may be more expensive upfront, but they are more durable and require less maintenance than asphalt roofs. They are also more energy-efficient, reflecting the sun’s rays and keeping the interior of the home cooler. On the other hand, asphalt roofs are more affordable and easier to install. They also come in a variety of colors and styles, making them more customizable. When deciding between metal and asphalt roofs, consider factors such as longevity, maintenance, energy efficiency, and cost.

It is important to note that different types of roofing materials have varying lifespans and are affected differently by the above causes. For example, asphalt shingles typically last between 15-30 years depending on the factors listed above, while metal roofs can last up to 50 years or more. Properly maintaining and repairing your roof when needed can help extend its lifespan and save you money in the long run. Ultimately, the decision should be based on personal preference, budget, and the specific needs of your home.

When Mr. Alex Odishoo showed up to give me a bid on my roof I was impressed in the way he conducted himself. He went about accessing my roof, laying out material, work to be accomplished, warranty, clean up, and time frame. He was in no hurry to leave without explaining all aspects to me and answering all my questions and putting it into a contract that showed all we talked about. His professionalism, knowledge, skills, and ability allowed me to make an easy discussion. His crew of four showed true skills and workmanship completing the job in one day as Mr. Odishoo said would be. Also Mr. Odishoo did not waste time from contract to job completion. I was over all pleased.
